Phi Alpha National Honor Society (Social Work)
Purpose: To provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideals. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work.
HPU Chapter: Theta Omicron
This national honor society recognizes academic achievement by students in the social work program.
Eligible undergraduate candidates must:
- Be currently enrolled in HPU's social work degree program.
- Be at least sophomore status (30+ credits toward degree).
- Have completed a minimum of three social work courses including SWRK 2000 or its equivalent.
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.25 for the required social work courses.
- Have a cumulative GPA in all courses that count towards the degree of 3.0 or higher.
Eligible graduate candidates must:
- Be currently enrolled in HPU's master of social work (MSW) degree program.
- Have completed at least one term of MSW course work (9 credits).
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the required social work courses
Membership fee of $35 to be paid upon notification of acceptance.
